Victim ID’ed Following Train vs. Car Accident

Wright, MN (Northland’s NewsCenter) — Authorities have identified the woman involved in a fatal train vs. car accident, in Wright, Minnesota.

67-year-old Susan McPhail, of Wright, is dead after a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train smashed into her car near Wright, MN.

The Carlton County Dispatch received a report of an accident around 8 a.m. that occurred at the intersection of Birchwood Drive and Highway 210, on Wednesday.

When officers arrived on scene, they found that the train had hit the car and pushed the vehicle for about a mile before coming to a stop at the intersection.

Witnesses say they heard a loud sound and then screeching as the train was pushing the car along the tracks.

McPhail was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Cromwell Ambulance and Wright First Responders all responded to the scene.

Authorities are investigating this accident.
