Father of boys killed in "Youth Alive" car crash dies of heart attack

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The father of three of the four boys killed in the Youth Alive crash has been found dead in his home.

Family friend and activist Christopher 2x confirms Marc Hampton died today of a heart attack.

Hampton is the father of Jamar, Demar, and Marc Claybrooks.

The boys along with Aaron Shields were killed when Herbert Lee Junior crashed the stolen car the boys were riding in as Lee was running from police in 2008.

Shield’s father spoke about Hampton’s untimely death. He says, “Right now honestly I’m lost for words, my heart is real empty right now I’m full of grief right now and I’m gonna to miss him.”

Marc spent the last few years of his life working on a new memorial dedicated to his boys, along with Aaron Shields. It’s a place to remember loved ones lost in violent crimes. Robin Shields, Aaron’s mother, says they will continue to beautify it.

She says, “This is our spiritual garden, I can’t describe it but our kids spirit is here and now Marc’s spirit is here and I can feel it too.”

At 50 years old, Marc leaves behind a wife and a young daughter. The family is still working on funeral arrangements.
