Four separate crashes on State Highway 2 are causing significant delays for commuters heading into Wellington.

A three-car nose-to-tail is the latest to see one lane blocked at Horokiwi.

The New Zealand Transport Agency’s Mark Owen says before that there were three other incidents.

“Early this morning we had a cyclist hit a car just at the Petone on-ramp southbound, and not long after we had a minor nose-to-tail.

“Then we had a car catch fire further south which caused a majority of the delay.”

Mark Owen says the latest crash has now been cleared, and traffic should ease soon.
